Chinese society as a whole supports the development of green buildings

The Chinese Vice Minister of Construction Qiu Baoxing said recently at the 3rd International Conference on buildings ecological and intelligent energy saving in buildings, and the exhibition of new technologies and new products the subject held at the same time that Chinese society as a whole recognizes the importance of developing green buildings.

Therefore, he said, the Chinese government has developed and published standards of basic construction, such as “Directive Principles of ecological design of buildings” and “Basic criteria of studies on energy saving in public buildings, while the “Regulations on the energy saving of buildings for civil use” will be published very shortly.

The relevant Chinese authorities are making every effort to promote the work of saving energy and reducing its consumption and it has adopted various measures in the light of reality.

According to the established political principles, all major cities of the country shall, within five years ahead, proceed, as against 25% of existing buildings, the repair work designed to save energy st reduce its consumption. Large cities and provinces such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hebei, have already started work on transforming the old houses and have obtained the first successes.
